In celebration and commemoration of the centennial of James Krenov’s birth and the release of Brendan Gaffney’s biography “James Krenov: Leave Fingerprints,” The Krenov Foundation has organized this online exhibition, “Krenov At 100.” Krenov (or JK, or Jim) would have celebrated his 100th birthday this October 31st. At this important point of reflection and consideration, we present here a number of Krenov’s pieces, which were recently gathered and examined by a number of those closest to Krenov.

Unable to carry out our celebration in a more public and intimate forum with the ongoing pandemic, we have enlisted the help of video, text and images to help bring new light and deeper insight into a selection of Krenov’s works. These nine pieces, including five standing cabinets, two wall cabinets, a selection of his treasured hand planes and a small carved candlestick represent Krenov at several junctions in his five-decade career as a cabinetmaker.

By clicking on the images in the gridded gallery below, you can view each of these nine highlighted works, which are documented with an in-depth video, images and text.  It is our hope that this will offer a closer look at James Krenov, as seen through the work of his hands and the voices of those lives he impacted.
